I recently caught up with Jessica Macalino, MSHA, President of Riverside Smithfield Hospital IWVRS is very excited about the hospital's opening, which is set for early 2026. This state-of-the-art facility will provide emergency care and comprehensive services, ensuring residents have access to high-quality, closer-to-home care. With a highly advanced emergency department and medical/surgical beds, the hospital is designed to meet the diverse needs of our growing community.
Riverside Smithfield will collaborate closely with Riverside Regional Medical Center in Newport News and other regional hospitals to provide comprehensive care for our patients. This integrated approach highlights Riverside’s commitment to delivering coordinated, patient-centered care across the region. If you have a medical emergency, it is important to seek care at the closest facility or to call 911.
We are also excited about Riverside's commitment to health in the Smithfield and Isle of Wight County communities. The hospital will host imaging and outpatient diagnostic centers, which will also help patients in non-emergent cases. They also participate in local food banks, helping those in need in our community.
We look forward to reduced delays in returning to service and closer, adequate care for our patients. For more information on their services and hospital progress, check out their Facebook page @Riverside Smithfield Hospital
